How poly-heavy is that scene/character? I still work at home with my ancient GeForce 250 and 6 Gbs of Ram and use all the applications with no issues whatsoever. I'm building a new and more powerful rig this year though.
Hello All, I am not "butt hurt"... well maybe a little...:) You would be too if you spent countless hours on a model and someone accused you of stealing it. Look, you are all missing the point in my particular case. I was given a 2d concept by a client to make a 3d model. What you see in my portfolio…
I can promise you, this are the comfiest freakign headphones I've ever tried on. You can use these suckers for 8 hours and you wont even feel them. The sound is also fantastic, and it caps just enough exterior sound to leave you peacefully in the zone, for those that work on noisy offices.…

I'd advise against using Maya's transfer maps for baking AO. You've already come across one problem which is actually caused by the way Mental Ray generates AO. Whether your low poly is inside, outside or a mixture of both shouldn't be a factor when baking. Mental ray (wrongly) includes the bake target (i.e. your low poly…

Check it out here... http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=252552713 it's also part of the Baba…
Had a chat with my tutor and he has suggested leaving the posing at this stage so I moved onto exporting a low poly mesh and then creating a necklace for the character. Used two tubes, one to represent the string and one to represent a bead: Then I duplicated the bead over and over changing size and rotation to create a…

YOu should map that white line on the fountain differently. You could likely do the whole trim with a simple 256x64 tiled texture thats straight and then let the geo take care of it. Would get rid of that really obvious pixelated look thats for sure. Also in terms of lighting, theres just no atmosphere. Play with a very,…
If you have a .MA, open it in a text editor (260 megs might crash out the editor) and strip out all the data except the mesh. You'll lose a lot of work, but at least you will have the mesh :) You can also try to manually debug the file to see what's wrong with it. Maybe there are 259 megs of corrupted data you can easily…
