Wow, you guys sure are quick to trash a release. I'm not defending Max per se, just thinking that something like this could be fixed pretty easily with a simple script. There are so many productivity enhancements in this release. Letting something simple like this stop you is just silly, even though you're (rightfully)… -

i have relly enjoyed them. I have a lot. mostly maya for getting to know maya, and a lot for mel scripting and rigging and such. helped me a ton. also helpoed me to learn zbursh and the likes. some are crap though, but I find even if I come away with one tip, the 60 bucks was worth it. -

The thing is, the movie had a godo idea, a great production design, and excellent cinematography, but some of the worst action editing. making the scenes much more confusing rather than clear. I enjoyed it, aside from the usual Michael Bay stupidities. (Why does a Medical Doctor suddenly turn into a commando?) Script was… -

Yea I was one of the many beta testers it was a fun and an interesting experiance but the game is really cool if you like cartoon style titles (which I do). The gaming was much better when they implemented PB and took out or slowed down the script kiddies. :) I recommend giving it a go! for anyone who hasn't given it a try. -

I have an importer script, grabbed it from the Quake Rally boys a few years back for Maya 4.5; it works in 5.0 and 6.0 Not tried it in 6.5, or 7.0 (didn't think 7 was released yet, only pre-order). 3DS MAX is the fastest, more reliable, it's robust with the largest community, more plugins and scripts than anything else out there and if you're looking into the game industry is the program that most game studios use it's the best for modeling and many other tasks, which program to use in 3D, it's the easiest questions… -

Look into blueprint scripting. It will really open up a lot of opportunities. Even though Unreal had a decent toolset by default, it highly relies on blueprints. So if you find some missing tool or feature, sometimes you are better making your own and you really can. If it doesn't exist already on the marketplace. -

Outliner 2 works perfectly for me in Max 2014/2015 I do not use the install routines though, i simply copy the script folders over from the old installs. So i do not know if the installer is able to deal correctly with the changed folder structure in Max 2013/2014/2015 -

How important is it that pieces snap to the grid in the game engine if you do the layout in your 3D app? Besides snapping is there any other benefits to making modular pieces fit to the grid? I would layout my pieces in maya(snapping but not in respect to a grid) and then use a python script to send that over to UDK.
