Yeah I planed to add more details to the model. If my mesh is merged? My smoothing modifier is above the symmetry, so technically its "merged". It would cause problems if I had smoothing below symmetry tho...
Creating and merging meshes like this actually makes it worse and there is a reason for why you can lay things out right in the level editor. If you merge meshes like this, the renderer won't be able to cull that are off screen or behind things.
ok, i was texturing some stuff, i merged the layers, and applied a sharpen filter to enhace some definition, each file had like 50 -100 layers. i save AND BAM, computer restarts !!!!!!!!!!! now i just have the merged image with the sharpen applied....im about to despair...
I think i know why you get issues on some gifs posted and it's because of your Mirror settings. You have Border attribute set to "Merge Border" but then Merge Threshold set enormously high (153) while it's should be something like 0.01. http://i.imgur.com/fu1Cvpr.gif
cool thanks, this tool seems to make things a bit easier. still wish there was some sort of "live" symmetry that shows what the center would looked like merged but is actually not merged. youd think maya would have resolved this issue by now or someone had developed a script for it, but noooo ;(
It lets you know you've got un-merged verts, which can be super useful if you don't intend to have un-merged verts. If you you get shading errors without a seam it'll mean flipped normals or double geo. It might not be pretty but it is pretty handy.
@throttlekitty is correct, importing by drag n' drop will add a namespace with the filename each time. You can merge them with the Namespace Editor, and then in the future use File > Import rather than drag n' drop. This will give you additional namespace options which include merging with the root on import.
Remove the header. Just a simple name/position (text even better) Merge Home, Edu and Personal Work into a single portfolio page of only the best, final pieces. No WIPs, doodles, etc. Merge Bio and Contact page into a single Resume. Then forget about this page, get busy with new content.
I found a solution to the duplicate issue, sort of. If i need to re-import the mesh into maya, I just merge the verts. Since they are RIGHT on top of each other, like occupying the same space, all three versions merge together.
On the other hand, the opposite term for this is "brutal honesty", which for too many is just an excuse to be a nonconstructive jerk. It doesn't help that so many points central to these discussions constructed around highly subjective or misguided "truths". ...Like, why we keep acting as if there is a "default" type of…
