It is a bit silly to switch OS just because of a $500 jump in costs. BUT Apple high end hardware has been very stagnant and not catering to the professional crowd. The highest end Mac Pro has the performance equivalent of 2x $200 GPUs for the low cost of $4600. And the new MacBook Pro maxes out with the performance… -

More ram and a better video card. I've got 8 gigs and a GTX 460 and I don't have any problems running Max, Photoshop and UDK all at once. Shouldn't be a very costly upgrade. -

First image is 2772 x 4609 pixels, so the file size is 8.42 MB. 2nd image is 6548 x 3392 pixels, 11.68 MB. If you used a max resolution of 1920, the file sizes would be more manageable. Try downloading the images after you post them, you'll see. -

Good info, CrazyButcher. If my budget wasn't so tight I'd go with the 460gtx for sure. Looking hard at that gts now. If I pick it up in the next week it's only 75 bucks after rebate. Feeling impulsive... Must continue to sleep on it. -
