@JohnnyTheKid thanks for the advice! I guess knowledge of anatomy is key indeed. One more question though, did you first create a base mesh in a neutral hand pose, then do some posing (with transpose or zspheres) and finally adding more detail, or did you sculpt straight away in the pointing pose as on the renders?
Did this one just today. 2 hours. not rendered as nicely as the others though. I think some areas I already notice I need improvement is the corners of the mouth looking very flat. Right now I'm using references with a neutral expression, eventually I'd love to try dynamic expressions though.
What you should do before anything else is to prepare the mesh to let it help you work. You have to model it in a neutral position and let polygons follow the muscle direction, like this: You could also chamfer the eye vertex or extrude those polygons in order to get a round shape in a higher subdivision.
today's update. Tweaked the face further. I think its matching Kathyrin Winnick's quite a bit more now. Have to fix the ear tho. Been playing a bit too much in photoshop and the image got kinda greenish...apologies for that. tomorrow's render should be more neutral. c&C welcome as always.!
He makes his point a bit clearer in the following discussion with Daniel Lim: The discussion goes on but that was the jist of what he meant by that, he is not saying you can turn 8000 around, just that for the difference between male and female only a smaller amount are actually differeing in stance and motion, most are…
Careful, in another thread, someone from Torn Banner said that weapons need to be team neutral. EDIT: Ignore that - team specific weapons are OK per the FAQ thread. Looks really awesome otherwise. I like how simple the lions are but they still read really well - can't wait to see them with teeth.
After watching a film located in a small village in Africa, I decided to use the classroom structure of the village to create the rest of the environment. Of course my intention is not to bother anyone, it's true that a dark ritual of that type is a delicate topic wherever it is done, so after reconsidering it, I think I…
Well, I don't know why this topic was moved to Unpaid Work ... in my point of view this is more a group-study, there is nothing to do with work. The thing is, I'm back from my 3 days off and I'll start to collect references and ideas for this project tonight. As soon as I get something more concrete, I'll update…
If you know the local colour of an element of the photo, that is, what it should look like under a neutral light (no saturation), then you can colour-adjust the photo until that element goes from its "veiled colour" (affected by lighting) back to its "local colour" (unaffected). This process is called white balancing.…
ah good point. I'm having a difficult time lighting this properly. Its all in Maya/MentalRay. One of my main concerns was lighting the hair so it had depth and not blending together which the harsh light had done but I'll try again maybe with a more neutral lighting. If you guys have any tips on lighting lemme know!
