This is pretty much why you should always start by blocking your scene out before you start doing any detail at all, that way the scene is laid out and you know how it all goes together and you can solve any major issues long before they become an incredibly time consuming problem to work around. -

Might not be a bad thing to look into if you only have a handful of meshes in a scene you want to paint, or as you said, you have meshes existing that aren't suitable for vertex painting but you want to add a bit of variation. I think this method would get very expensive very quickly if you're doing it for a whole scene… -

Except if you have really big scene with fx, most people hate having to look at a video if you're an artist. I resolve to FINISH more of the 3d work I start. for too long I have half a map or scene. Its time i start something and finish it. I resolve to complete my portfolio website by the end of the year. I resolve to complete at least one scene every 2-3 months. i think thats realistic. -

You got a lot of cool stuff. Definitely get rid of the "coca-cola" bar, though. It feels too empty and you already have another bar scene as well. The castle scene feels boring as well, but if you add more stuff and camera angles it might work better. IMO those are your two weakest pieces.
