well this is not exactly true but whatever, you could say that about someone that has knowledge of anatomy and regularly practices modeling characters but you cant really expect environment modelers to become character artists in an instant if they don't have the basic of anatomy, proportions, etc.... but that's my opinion…
Model everything and draw. I've cut back on my drawing as I mostly sculpt now but it does help you visualize whatever object you desire. practice drawing form and perspective. once you find your nice pour everything into it and don't stop having fun
Seems like a lot of polys wasted to have a bunch of individual pieces for junk piles. Perhaps look into the practice of clumping stuff buried into dirt or just a lot of smaller debris so you can make most of the detail bakes into the a textures, and only use polys on the larger pieces?
Hi, I saw this thread and I'm really interest! I have a few questions to ask. If you don't mind. -Is this technique widely use in game art? -Is this practical for small team of artists with 3-4 people? -How many weeks it take to master this technique at production quality?
I've done another terrain,though that voronoi effect would have used more erosion/smoothing,but wathever,gotta move on to learn water & foliage :P [ame=" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAsWbiglhmA&feature=plcp"]UDK practice environment w.i.p. 1 - YouTube[/ame]
exactly what it sounds like, some levels unlock an endless wave of orcs while you try to last as long as you can. they're campaign levels but the orc units are mixed up and it's a good way to earn extra skulls while practicing mid-battle spending habits.
I honestly don't think it's worth it. 4k tops, after that (unless you're staring at it super close up 100% of the time), it's a case of diminishing returns with certain items. Just prioritize and pack your UVs well, it's more practical. Edit: EQ beat me to the punch, lol.
Thank you for your valuable feedback and I look forward to work on defining each material differently so that it don't look and feel the same. This model was created without any solid reference as it was more of a part of my practice work....Well thanks again for the comment it means a lot......... :)
I think you should maybe practice some more before even going anywhere near that end goal of getting it into UE4. If this is your first time using blender and looking into game art I will point you towards the treasure trove of information. http://wiki.polycount.com/CategoryCharacter
just finished to pose still left only the grass but i call it done! i'm retopologizing it now @krztyczekpstryczek i left the wood as it is, i did tons of testing but every result was not satisfying for me so i decided to keep it as it is but for the future I will practice to do chopped wood
