Is there a source of information regarding current best practices when baking maps in Substance Designer/Painter, apart from reading through hundreds of posts spread out over many years? I'm getting back into 3D art after a break, and I literally just watched the video describing Duard's approach this morning, only to now…
Im not gunna drop a knowledge bomb on people, because to be quite honest I know nothing. Im a small fish in a big pond and im lost without a clue atm. I currently rent with 3 friends at university, and in 2 days time im moving in on my own. Ive got a 6 months lease, which if Crytek decide that im worthy and keep me on…
I understood. It was mostly : - theories of megatexture and compromises to get it going on consoles - caching a megatexture - his mic has a bug - The idea of exploiting Intel's onboard for more direct memory access to memory for performance - a proposal to return to PC-side engine experiments in updates, in relation to the…
Yes, when you model the pieces seperately you can unwrap them as such. Each time you unwrap a section, just place off to the side of the 0-1 space. When you are done unwrapping all the pieces, then you can select all of them and apply an unwrap mod to all of them at once. Voila, all the pieces will still be where you…

There are many reasons why your website could be slow. If you blame just the traffic.. the main…
The Old - should I do it Question..... I would say just do it - no one can answer your Question really since we arent you nor do we know you or your art. Yes it's hard. Yes you will sacrifice fun time ( probably to an extent where you lose friends/family and even health sometimes ). If it's more then a hobby and a passion…
Still, you cant really ignore the way they treated the PC market... and the whole PR shit surrounding that is pretty low (to a PC gamer) - I dont know anything about the internal workings of a company but I still find what happened rather frustrating. Also, as much as I like the multiplayer I've played it enough know to…
