I'm on team working on a mod for UT3. I've just got a question about the best way to use texture sheets. I'm used to using one model per texture sheet. Is this an okay way to do it? I mean will it cause any problems. I know in cases Epic have used texture sheets for meshes in UT3, but it seems they don't always. Is it…
As an aspiring environment/prop(still undecided) artist I always said no but then I realised I have no real experience in this sector of the cg industry so.. Does it actually hinder gameplay? Because I'm getting a little sick of scrolling down on Epic's video of how they made the environment art of x map or a making of in…
I have been working on a small Aliens based unreal tournament 1v1 map and its almost complete i would like to send out an alpha version of the map first though just to make sure everything is working properly but I really cant wrap my head around unreal's build process / content submission system or even epics forum for…
Hello, If you missed the Migs conference, do not worry. AutoDesk has put up those videos for our viewing pleasure. They are chocked full of useful information about UDK Maya, max and Scaleform. Check them out here. http://area.autodesk.com/migs2011 And here Epic has put them up on YouTube.…
If I remember correctly, the Arthur Morgan character is modular, so it would make sense that different modules are on different smaller sets to avoid loading textures that are only partially used. If your character doesn't need this, you can pack more on one set, mainly splitting with texture resolution and shader model…
Portal Transition Effect using Level Streaming Detailed blog post here. 80 Level article here. Taking inspiration from Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, I experimented with a portal transition effect between maps using level streaming. I used Epic’s Infiltrator Demo and Zen Garden for the 3D environment assets.…
Go on game engines Discord, job categories often have up to date offers. Epic hires a lot of archviz people for unreal demos and all, you might find a job offer fitting you there. Same with Unity. It can be a foot in the game industry also. the Discord I mentionned - you can find other people requiring your realtime…
Is it Dynamic? If yes - check temple level from epic, they have solution with regular directional light for additional sky bounce. If static - You could change indirect values in dominant light properties or simplest is just add extra bounce lights. You can use additional lighting channels for bounce lights and house if…
Epic Games developed a new dynamic global illumination system for their Fortnite game and the GDC Kite demo. I don't know how much LPV has changed or addressed the many problems associated with it (i.e, it doesn't work with translucent objects, and it produces very bad artifacts on thin geometry). I'd personally wait for…
i love how its a "realistic" adaptation of what a warrior priest would be, my main critique would be that i dont see a cross anywhere on him, the book/bible is a great touch, and i love the detailing on the cape, but to me he really just looks like an epic warrior ya know? im not too sure how priestly he looks.
