That all makes sense guys. I'll check out the assets in UDK. I have it downloaded but never really viewed the meshes. There's way to many ways to go about something when you're trying to learn the ropes haha. You only learn by practicing though
Been stalking Zbrush central all week/end. I admit, I fell asleep during some tutorial vids, lul. All good stuff. Just need to keep practicing :D I want to finish this scene before the new year! D:
I agree, the dude you scanned has a lot of volume and distinct fatty pockets all over his face. He also has a lot of unique asymmetry and shapes to all of his facial landmarks. Your sculpt is practically missing all of that character and uniqueness.
I´m going and I´m down for a meeetup/beer/dinner whatever we come up with. Also attending a tutorial session for the first time, Level Design in a Day: Best Practices from the Best in the Business. How are the tutorials? Anyone been to one before?
Well, I'm sure you have seen the silly things companies do to one another when they feel threatened. :) But your example isnt quite right. This isn't a conversion of a media. This is media with new "safe guards" that now would interfere with the business practices of others.
That's very insightful. I think I'll probably end up doing this just because I don't have much to lose at this point. I'd have to break down my projects to be very specific in what I'm trying to accomplish with learning / practicing. Thanks for the advice!
I already knew about this website, it was in my bookmarks but still thanks for posting it. I tried some of this stuff and I think I'm better off learning the old fashioned way from books and practice, but I can't say that's what everyone should do.
I do have one more question about tileable textures. Any good tutorials or can anyone explain how it is done. I know how to make a tileable texture using offset and all that in photoshop. I mean how is it used practically in games?
I can't see why Spicy Horse went with the Unreal 3 engine for Grimm, they could of pulled of the same game with less complex and far cheaper engines with the added bonus of running on practically any PC out there. Look at Gravity Bone, that's using the Q2 engine.
Love the variety of projects you have going on here. I think your pig guy would look cool with some kind of mechanical arm replacement; but that doesn't really lend well as a z-brush practice. Either way, keep up the good work
