Wow. This is probably my favorite of all the entries. I don't even want to try and enter at this point haha. I'm wishing you good luck, but if you don't rank in the top 8 I'd be hella sad. This deserves a lot! =) Good work man and keep it up. PS: Am I the only one who likes it better with the slime on it? haha
Yeah understood I wanted to showcase it overall in-case the weapon was laying on the ground at a shooting range and someone looked down at it. Or slung over on a character back in 3rd person; aswell as just doing a full profile view for my portfolio, but if I just made it simple it would get it down to 30k-31k Such as The…
hiii im just starting , getting used to this, i have lots of ideas but im stuck in 3d modeling , cant even start to display it. i had my mind in this Sven set... if we want we can try, if im too slow or bad then you can find someone else http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=125685
interest in military history lead to research until I was old enough (IL laws, where I grew up) to rent and shoot pistols on my own (never had a range or the land for shotguns or large caliber rifles in IL sadly). So personal experience, research, and love of understanding all things mechanical (deconstructing and…
hi, nice work! the proportions are a bit off, his knees look too low, the pants are low, that's ok if it should be that way but then the knees can't slide down too .. ;) But if you want to follow the refs then the folds which are suggesting the knees make them look too low and the trouser is really too low bc he doesn't…
nice texture work. just for the future. your sculpt was looking very lumpy in some places, specifically the pants and the sash. you'll want to take care next time and slowly raise your subdivision levels., Assuming you did do that, then you just need to pay more attention to the surface of your model so it looks clean and…
I say start him in Zbrush. With guidance, a good start in there will introduce him to thinking in 3D and to working with topology - actual box modelling will flow naturally later when he wants bits he cant make otherwise. UVs and texturing much later. Fewest barriers to creating artwork, the rest will come once he's…
+2 for 3D Motive and Blender. I would read the wiki as it has a good explanation of the main principles, such as vert/edge/poly components, edge modelling and normals. depending on what you want to model will influence your choice of application and learning. If you use max, Grant Warwick has some really good tutorials on…
so your UVs are just a coordinate space- they really don't care what aspect ratio the texture file is. E.g. coordiantes .5,.5 are dead center regardless of what the texture is shaped like. If you want that cylinder to take up the entire texture sheet than you need to scale it horizontally so that it occupies the full 0-1…
If you want to be that precise, don't snap your UV to the grid but snap it to pixel instead (default snap setting set to grid snap). But as like what Eric said, create a temp texture with intended size, load that to the UV editor then only you can use the pixel snap (without texture loaded and displayed, you cant use the…
