ya just UV and texture it all, the game might use a fixed camera, but this will at-least allow you to use the same pieces in different orientations, which prolly wont be that useful for actually structures the user interacts with in a rts game but will be useful for everything else you got modeled for the game to add more…
The main thing that bothers me here is the size of the room, I think. It feels like there's a lot of room between the tables and then from there to the walls. I think if you cramped it up some, you might get a more "filled out" feel to the room. And you would get the added benefit of more things reflecting other things and…
Concerning overlapping uv's: Generally, if there are some complex interactions I want to capture, then I'll create a secondary uv set and layout your uv's as effeciently as possible (use wahtever automatic settings you can). Bake your Ao's to that map and paint on your overlapping. I know how maya can combine multiple maps…
Logically thats why I intend to learn it? I saw the houdini webinar, but that still is nowhere near a tutorial on how you place muscles, how you gotta form them so they properly interact, how you connect them to your rig, and there are no tips on how to work with it at all. Pros offset muscle animation by 2 frames for…
You will be pleasantly surprised by how many free, complete game projects exist for Unity. I suggest you do what we did at USC's Interactive Media Division and download these projects to learn and ape what they did. Take a C# learning course from a free coding class online AND deconstruct what they're doing in these games.…
Hey, it has been a long time since I have seen you around! Nice to see your recent works, but it feels like you are being held back (I guess that is why you went back to basics!). Your hand study above is great, an understanding of the way lighting and materials interact is very useful :) I am quite inspired to go back to…
Reminds me of the scene from the Big Lebowski with Jackie Treehorn. Jackie Treehorn People forget, that the brain is the biggest erogenous zone-- Jeffrey Lebowski On you, maybe Jackie Treehorn Of course, you have to take the good with the bad. The new technology permits us to do very exciting things in interactive erotic…
i would take a step back and stop using sculpting programs before you study anatomy, i would look at muscle planes, study bone structure and how it interacts with the underlaying muscles , then maybe start doing simple lvl1 sculpts on zbrush or mudbox with just laying the main masses , i see way too many new artists…
make as much detail in max as possible, things like zips, hard edges and stuff really can't be well replicated in zbrush I find, you're also less likely to become stuck when sculpting because if you jump into sculpting too soon then you may find that you lack direction or are unsure of the interaction between objects, I…
I've just realised the VISCIOUS irony of me exclaiming that I painfully ended a seven year relastionship in the pursuit of my career as a videogame artist whilst simultaneously proclaiming that as a career choice it doesn't interfere with personal life EDIT: thats rough Jon. Good luck with what you decide. DON'T SELL YOUR…
