In keeping with my word to get back to this after GDC here we are. Last time everything was quickly place. I rebuilt the scene, and started painting the textures. Currently the lighting and post are temp while I'm nailing the colors. Still a long time to go. http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/1682/chell02.jpg
There is a paint-tiling feature in the 3D system. Not perfect, but definitely getting closer... http://forums.adobe.com/message/1645842#1645842 Edit... related video here. http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-russell-brown-show/painting-3d-patterns/
Very entertaining read, I enjoyed the story when I first heard about it on Crunch Cast. I found it kinda funny they didn't want to spend $1600 on the domain name.

Ahh thanks for that I forgot you guys set that up. So far it hasn't been suggested other than "quicktime support". So I submitted it and the response has been the typical response when the issue is raised "do these hack fix work around things, that really don't work, oh and don't expect it to work as needed out of the box"…
Nice work southpaw. Like Myles mentioned, I think the tile needs some variation. Perhaps have a dance floor area and break it up a bit, maybe some different flooring around the bar and eating area too. The other thing thats making this scene feel weird to me are the chairs. The thin legs and bulky seat/back are throwing me…
Cool. Andy Davies also has a way to do this that sort of goes along these lines: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1637437&postcount=6 I can confirm personally that the smooth/hard edge code in the new .fbx exporter works right, but we're still waiting on the .obj exporter.…
