Just a tip on texturing to make sure there's no weird alpha artefacts, I found this photoshop action in the Unity 3d help section that dilates the border of your selected layer: http://unity3d.com/support/documentation/Manual/HOWTO-alphamaps.html From: To:
Finally an update. Getting the normal map to work took me a while, but I managed to get it all together. Threw it into Unity to see the normal. It's coming along. Now I gotta get the textures on it and should probably add a base.
Unity better keep up with us :P We are going to use the same rig for all the characters, so the animations can be recycled on every soldier, just to hang on to our sanity. We are four people working on this, as you know.
Soooo if they consider Unity and Kickstarter maybe finally a multiplatform title from them ? PC Windows or even better Linux well that would be an instant seller for me at least, loved there games but they always picked the wrong platform for me lol.
I would recommend never using spaces. UDK is not Unity, it does not play well with such things. Rename it with an underscore. If it's still a problem, duplicate it as a new material and hook it up. Then delete the old one and make sure to save your package.
This might depend on which application. For Unreal/Unity, I'd probably say yes, and that it would most likely cause issues in other programs. Maya for example, uses a few different "styles" for overlays, and the viewport is completely idle if nothing is playing.
UDK is kinda synced to xnormal, better than not using xnormal, but it is not perfect Xnormal does have sync options for CE3 and Unity as well. (You'll have to search for them, but the options are there) Marmoset and maya are synced as far as I am aware.
@Boklin I don't usually look at specific studios. Try the polycount freelance job board, Unity Connect or Unreal job board. Also I know on Arstation you can check 'remote work' under the jobs section.
Thank you, yes it's Unity. And a background is one of the first things on my to-do lists. It's very hard to come up with something interest, that does not steal attention away from the main board :) . The pillar idea is something that might work.
Revit and 3dsmax. Also, on the point of this not being an arch-vis specific forum, there is more crossover now than ever. Environment artists adopt building concepts from arch-vis and arch-vis artists are starting to dabble in UE4 and Unity.
