I think the result is quite good, not many players would notice the inconsistency.. and this is for Mount&Blade yeah? Is the solution not as simple as moving the start of the rope inside the pulley cylinder, or covering it with something? It would appear more 'fixed' then?
You could do this by having the lower mips of the normal map baked from the softer model and the base normal baked from a tighter highpoly.... but that's an incredible amount of effort to go to for something that will go unnoticed by 99.9% of players.
Yeah, they all started as high-res models and then decimated in Zbrush. The decimation level was also customized based on the area of the model we wanted the player to focus (e.g. head with lower decimation levels than the feet, etc)
own3d! and neox - alias was a major player in another market - they made their money with studio tools. seemingly nobody cared about maya in that aquisition, it was just unfortunately a piece of alias's portfolio when autodesk went for studio tools.
Has there ever been a time where a company told an individual to not make a custom model? I thought that was only told to single player mods where their mod is trying to recreate the gameplay experiences of a pre-existing franchise?
"We're confident that the new 'reluctantly interactive' content engine we designed will prevent any excitement or emotional involvement, inappropriate or otherwise, on the part of the player." So your going to bore them to death so that they hate their parents?
Prop Artist can also get blurry. I know at some places it can mean environment decorations, etc, but I'm a Prop Artist and I do things the player uses, weapons and items and pickups or whatever.
Indian boy, I'd say all of it is. Spacemonkey, that looks incredible, and really reminds me of ut2k7. If you don't make a player model of it, you should let someone else. Would be a shame not to see that design in game.
He obviously isn't that good of a Counter Strike player, his bunny hopping skills weren't 1337 enough for him to dodge the bullet! Great dude though, more people need to stand up to the scumbags with guns.
one of my students brought over his 360, we played quake4 for 5 mins, and 2 hours of 4 player Quake2. Looked good on the xb360. My PC version is at my folks place in NY
