TL;DR My website with portfolio (check YouTube channel for more) http://sergeizemtsev.tumblr.com/ If you want:* Atmospheric and eerie soundtracks in the spirit of Yume Nikki * Paranoid post-punk and insecurity like Berserk and Paprika soundtracks * If you conceived Persona and Danganronpa in the darkest colors * You need…
First off, metalness doesn't always have to be 0 or 1, but it generally would be. Most materials are either metal or they are not. Very few materials are partially metal in reality, and materials like rust/oxidization are not metal anymore (simply used to be metal). However, it can make sense to have some gray values in…
It definitely won't let you compare 1-to-1 exactly. You can try creating a camera to view an angle closer to the original camera. But I think you'll just have to eyeball it. Real-world cameras have barrel distortion and other artifacts that most 3d cameras don't have (unless you put a ton of effort into it).
One thing to keep in mind that most games have fixed sizes for texture slots. Think of it like a shoe rack in a bowling alley, different sized shoes all go into the same sized slot. So the engine expects square textures when it finds a half texture, it ends up taking a full slot. So often you're really not saving anything…
I use bigtime to count twenty minutes for breaks and rests for my poor eyes and carpal tunnel. You can use it to count down to smoke breaks too. http://www.hahntech.com/
Howdy fellow polycounters! I've been lurking around for a while and wanted to finally post some personal stuff. This is a tribute to all the cheesy 80's action films ( Big Trouble in Little China, Roadhouse) and beat'em up games of the era ( Final Fight, Double Dragon). I'm probably not jumping back onto this guy but…
Hi! I’m polishing an Unreal scene (cave ruins with a shallow pond, god rays, big stone head, doorway, torch character). Could you please give me feedback on what to tweak or redo in this Unreal scene so it looks more polished? Thanks in advance! Goal: push it to a more “AAA” look for portfolio.
Blend into the norms of the platform. On Polycount it's normal to have absurd pseudonyms like CrackRockSteady or Amsterdam Hilton Hotel or even poopinmymouth, I don't really know why, I guess it's forum culture, it's always been that way. We tend to have signatures with links to portfolios that have our real names so it's…
Pathetic earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void, without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe, anything at all, you would've hidden from it in terror.
