Hey Texelion, Gotta say I really like your new piece. Fun, bubbly and a nice healthy dose of Barbarella influence. Most of the guys above pointed out a few problems. Mostly the lighting and spec maps for the metal. Personally I'd lose the angles of the model which are deep in shadow for a nice 50/50 between the light and…
Whoa, those textures are WAY too noisy. Strip it right back to flat colours and spend a bit of time defining what each part of the texture is meant to be made of. Everything appears to be very bumpy as well, although I'm not sure if that's just effect of your spec map or a normal map. If its a normal map, take it out of…
here is another attempt at a tut. this is off of Chris Holden's cement cover tut. I suck at zbrush so that is why it looks like the cement has gills instead of cracks but maybe one day I will get there. it has 184 tris and done with 1024x1024 diffuse, normal, and spec map…
thanks moose ill add more pazaz scot yehh once its done that would be ace cheers =D heres little update.. sheild will totaly be changed.. most of the rest im just going to try and work more detail and realistic colour into as well as finnishing its off. ohh and add a spec and traansparency map. Jody
Yeah, I think my Cintiq might need some adjustment. I'm just painting the diffuse in ZBrush at this point, but I'll throw down a spec map once I've got that sorted. I'm using one main reference that I nabbed from 3d.sk though have adjusted it a bit for my own tastes. Thanks for the links.
Ya buddy looking good. I think one page scroll for images is the way to go! With the Runic Games guy, put the high spec one first, I almost didn't go down that far, maybe get rid of the low poly one all together, not really liking how that one looks. Keep it up holmes.
I think you need to drop the red saturation over all a bit. Add a bump to the dark spots on him. Make the gums pinker, and up sss on them. On the whole thing add alot of noise via grunge maps. Kill the spec on the pants. Maybe even try changing the sss colors to greens/yellows for his skin.
Marcus from gears of wars is painted on 3 2048 maps (spec diff and normalmap), and a 512 for hairs (don't think xan has hair, did he ?). No separate sheet for head and his face is good enough for close up so i think you should stick up with the 3 2k maps. (just my two cents)
The models/textures look good for such low specs. You're a Flash wizard. Is most of your work programmed from scratch or do you build upon and mod existing engines? I've been doing some Actionscript programming in Flex and was wondering if you have any good resources (links, books, or otherwise) that you could point me…
You want to be an environment artist, so might as well call yourself one in your title. I'd totally goto town on making a world to go around the turret. I also wouldn't call the turret done because you still need to tweek the spec map as mentioned in its thread. Other than that everything is looking great.
