I always thought it was way-com, but seeing as it's Japanese I guess it should be wak-om. I think that was more to do with completely random and mindless topics, whereas this topic is reasonable and loosely graphics related.
Last batch of of zbrush renders from rift. One batch of of ingames captures and I am done as far as Rift related stuff goes. going to start a personal art dump soon. Thanks for the feedbacks!
In relation to games I just always assume poly counts are talking about triangles. Sure it won't always be the case but's the safer assumption. Also polygon could mean 6000 triangles, it could mean anything.
I think this deserves a sticky as well; or at least a front page "news" post. Wonderful; I have always had this problem, so I'll certainly take this as advice. I think everyone can relate.
Yeah, they're the same thing, just different names. The main point of confusion when related to games is the term "poly count" as when talking about real-time models, that really means "tri count".
Hey there, Gotta agree on that. The concept of it is sort of lacking. It's basically a muscular human with the general 8-head-canon and a goblin-head. Goblins usually have a pretty large head in relation to the rest of their body. Keep it up!
if you use 3dsmax 2010 you can retopo your model with this technique! [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-o8NgLJ1MJ0[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBP3Lb9rVXI&feature=related[/ame]
using a azerty keyboard. Games usually do a good job at keeping that in mind, but 3d related programs usually do not. It really messes with your brain switching between azerty and qwerty multiple times in a hour.
I'd totally recommend following Jesse if you aren't already and are effected by this, he's re-tweeting like crazy. The amount of job related tweets aimed at ex-vigil and ex-relic employees is really impressive.
Not sure how related this is to Crytek's current situation but ouchhh. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/crytek-s-lead-graphics-engineer-leaves-company-to-/1100-6421218/ I guess you could say that Crytek is "doomed".
