I can understand why 3ds max or Maya are being chosen over Cinema. I'm thinking of a cheaper personal/indie license. Cinema 4d Prime priced at $995 with $250 yearly subscription. This is cheaper than modo. And a bit pricier than Maya Lt with no export limit and probably better modeling tools.
Here's a card that looks somewhat comparable to the 9800, and maybe a little faster. Looks like it's about $80 after rebate. Only thing that I can see that's any different is the memory interface is 128bit instead of 256. Think that will make a huge difference? I'm pretty sure my mobo is pcie 1. Not sure how that will come…
I'll throw a second vote for sager. I run everything and then some on my laptop(as a desktop replacement) And its a beast, and there's room to improve! Np9370 i7-3740 3.7Ghz on boost GTX680m(SLI Ready, only one card ATM) 16GB RAM 256GB SSD 750GB HDD 17" screen (The cheapest one you can get, Regrettably)

I am trying to follow a guide at the moment and am curious about a beginning step I think that's part of where a lot of my issues arose. If you don't mind answering? http://cgi.tutsplus.com/tutorials/building-thors-hammer-in-maya-part-1--cg-25676 Between Step 5 and 6 when first starting out he says "Extrude these two faces…
The blinds are the series of long rectangle in the top right corner. The wall is at the bottom. I've tried 256 512 1024 resolutions with medium to production light bake. In production some blobs are sort of merging and the whole blind and surrounding looks very dark I've tryied to overwrite lightmap res int he actor…
Updated the webplayer with a new home on my official web site: fatbox Software - The Woods Official Page I've also reduced the webplayer by 10MB in size...so now it loads 25MB quickly.
I think you may need to take a look at some more wolf reference stuff. Because right now that one is very motionless and boring as far as shape and silhouette are concerned. Also, don't be afraid to push the polycount a bit farther. Maybe closer to 2500+ for your hero statue piece. This should be the centerpiece of your…
I'd skip the whole high poly part, that's total overkill for what will end up as a tiny model on a tiny screen with a texture around 256 x 256 or less. Paint it by hand.
