Good point. I had planned to put some in, but ran out of time as I had a plane to catch. Definitely need to work on my spec map abilities. It is by far my weakest skill. I'll put some practice in on that over the holidays.
The good news is, your work is at a consistent quality. The bad news is that you're not at a professional level yet. It looks like you're doing fine, just need a bit more practice. Keep studying your anatomy books, you'll get there. Good luck
Wow you have some spiffy, emotive characters. The one bit of feedback I can see right off the bat is that the last one in your first post looks like he's practically falling backwards. Otherwise, bang-up job.
i occasionally read a book, practice being bored, analyze anime and cartoons for storytelling techniques, plumb the depths of ennui, get eaten alive by my cat, and inbetween bouts of sitting in front of my computer for hour on end i pretend to be a writer.
Makes mods! Even with no "practical" content creation skills you may be able to get a mod team together of semi-skilled people and begin on your game. That process enough will teach you a huge amount and will either make you or break you.
forgot to post these: Day 9: Female - need to practice more on this! Reference can be found here: http://polycount.com/discussion/comment/2560812#Comment_2560812 Day 10: Male Reference can be found here: http://polycount.com/discussion/comment/2561032#Comment_2561032
If at any point you're going to lead, you're going to have to teach. Conveying information is an entirely different skill set from using information. If you're not practicing that skill, somebody who has it is going to get the juicier work or the promotion that you wanted.
Grab some human photo reference too to see what all this stuff under the hood looks like in practice. Also, don't mistake the changes in colour on your current reference for depth. That's where your extended butt crack was coming from.
JK: yeah you're right i didnt really notice it while i was working on the base mesh, and yeah i have some boots to model for her that crash sketched out... I really should model the feet for practice tho too.
Thanks pangarang. I'll practice a lot more with shading. I did some shading on a few of these sketches but it's hard to see digitally. I'll have to darken in more. I'll also try to avoid contour lines. It's a bad habit that's hard to break haha.
