Primarily rendering speed, yes (not racing at 60fps = epic fail) Apart from the megatexture itself (I think Minecraft uses something similar?), is there anything special about the new ID 5 engine that would make it more prone to performance gains from the megatexture?
You got it! Though in Paragon for example, Epic has a library of tiling materials and each character's textures are just a set of masks, which is similar to what you described. It's a pretty unique pipeline though and I haven't seen it being used in production anywhere else.
I think it has to do with light bleeding at such thin meshes in UE4, so you would want to have a wall at least 2cm thick if i recal from epic games' live training minute 25:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qu3NfoXNZG4
Hello, there. I haven't tought much of the backstory. It's just a throne room of a wealthy barbarian king in the desert, that is at peak of it's power, so it will be new. And for me, the lighting is one of the main components of this scene, to make it look epic, sort to speak. Tough love is the best love. Cheers.
Looks like the engine scalability settings are set too low. If Unreal thinks your computer might be too slow it will try to automatically lower some settings for you. If you don't care about performance just set everything back to Epic. (the maximum setting)
Did you try the Citadell demo from Epic Games? Try that out, should answer your question :P If your lazy, watch a youtube of the demo. EDIT: Could actually be that it's all baked? I'm quite sure you can push specular at least.
Look up "anim trail unreal engine" on google. Thats what you need. EDIT -I see you already have one. In that case the setup is probably wrong. Epic made a tutorial about it, its in the official doc. Keep looking. Good luck.
The game's length is not epic, but definitely worth the money. I think there are 8 worlds with 3 levels each. Then of course there is replaying them for prizes. The art style for the backgrounds is top notch, using different 'painting' styles for each level. Some of them are even black and white.
I want to see a game with great level design and story, the first halo felt so epic the first time through, huge areas, big battles, a great balance of back tracking without making it boring, it almost felt like a zelda game with guns.
awesome i too thought it was an awesome concept drawing but its an even awesomer (epic wordage) 3d model - really loving the texture - keep it up - and if you can get it animated looks like it would be pretty kewl to see wandering about reeping havoc !
