Seeing the model and textures in a video is one thing, having them in your hands to play with is another. It lets you study the work in detail, at your own leisure. Many tutorials also provide "worksheet" files for you to work on alongside the video as practice.
Oh yeah well if you have little experience with painting, it's worth practicing a lot on other things first. I find painting stuff IRL much more enjoyable than computer work nowadays, so perhaps you might as well.
Thanks - I'll take this into consideration when I get to the practical side of things. One final thing: When did use of Normal Mapping become the norm for video games? And what was used prior to it (if any)? Would help with my research - thanks
Powers of two rule is only for bitmaps. Not for models. It's nice to have consistent texel density, but in practice it is difficult/impossible to maintain. It is not a strict rule, it is a "nice to have". Wall thickness is best matched to your grid, just to make it easier to align/snap pieces. That's it.
Little Update with some individual shot of couple of the parts; more for practice/sharpen my eyes to pull every little detail from a reference. It is also very beneficial for my more complex helicopter Rotor when accuracy is my main concern.
Vanquish is better than uncharted 2. I practically played them back to back. It's not better in every way, but in gameplay it wins easily. I have not played bayonetta because that chick freaks me out. MGS 3 is a listening to cinematics game.
looks a lot better, i think your problem now is that it has too much contrast. Looks like the rust is practically glowing. Also, I really think you should add some thickness to the basepads and the roofing. they look realllly thin
i like the line in this review from aintitcool "Oh. Dear. God. Where to begin? No, really. Where to begin? Ghost Rider is a total mess practically from start to finish, a giant flaming turd racing down the highway at 200 MPH" Lol
Can I not do both? My 360 streams porn. Anyway, internet insults are so mediocre. Boiling it down to bodily waste or sexual practices that you are too ignorant to acknowledge. Meh. Someone post the link to "When Insults Had Class"
Yea, those are all hand painted textures, so what you really need to do is just practice your traditional art and get a better understanding of form, light, color theory, and texture, and then it will work your way into your 3d abilities.
