DirectX 12 isn't a thing yet, but I think you are talking about DX 11.1 which was reported to be exclusive to Windows 8. However Microsoft jumped back and said it will be coming to Windows 7. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Service-Pack-1-Windows-7-DirectX-11.1-Runtime-Chuck-Walbourn,19135.html
Matter of fact, I killed my intel stock cooler while ocing an E8200 lol, no amount of thermal paste on it helped. I switched over to a Freezer Pro 7, and have had it 24/7 @3.8ghz for a few months now. On load it gets no higher than 56c in prime95 and is running 1:1 fsb:ram.

Two weeks sounds about right from start to finish with those specs. It *could* be quicker (5-7 days if the gun is simple) but two weeks is a reasonable timeframe. Even if you cut it down to 7 days, that's still only 3 per month while risking quality and burning your animator(s) out in the process.
So i have a 7 hour layover in NJ/NY Liberty airport. Anyone know if 7 hours is enough time to go into NYC and go check it out for a small amount of time or is it not enough time with congestion distance and such? If not any suggestions to kill time? so far i got -Nintendo Ds - Books 2 - Maybe sleep
I have a tut on hard surface modeling. It really is about making the lo poly before jumping to the hi poly too soon. Staying low is better and a lot easier in the long run. Really it's just about adding them edge loops and floater geometry. http://www.conradgarcia.com/uploads/1/7/1/7/17178532/sfc_buildingthebishophires.png
