Super cool concept, looking forward to seeing it develop. For the outfit variants I'd go with 1 or 2; I really like the look of the shorter/hiked up pant legs but the asymmetry of option 2 is pretty appealing too. Not quite sure what to make of the gloves at this point, I'm curious to see where you'll be going with them.
Falloff on most of the objects was the default 2, I've gotten some speed improvements by jacking that up in powers of 2 (8 min, some as high as 32 or 64). Yes casting shadows. Where is the explicit control of mesh emissive radius? I'm not finding it under the mesh properties in the Lightmass section where mesh emissive is…
I used 2 smoothing groups instead of one since the object is long. Smoothing group one is just on the sides while everything else is on 2. It came out rather nicely. With only a few errors on the edges, but not serious enough that unless you strain your eyes you'll likely never see. Thank you for the help.
You can consider these alternatives until(and maybe after(that is, if legally possible)) you get a job as well: Unreal Marketplace, Dota 2/ Team Fortress 2 Workshop, Turbosquid etc. Just make your research and determine if the experience would be useful for you. If you can make money as well, that would be helpful too.
Your prop designs are really nice :) thats your strength imo. My 2 cents, try not to use full value range on every object/character/piece. Limit your value range for different parts and it will have a better read. Maybe this is a good read for you: Dota 2 character art guide pdf
Few quick doodles playing with an idea for next skin..... basic idea is, gun from team in the original dust 2 map in 1.6, and how it would evolve over the time spent on that map until cs go... something along those lines, kind of a dust 2 tribute i guess. feedback would be awesome!
Test bake turned out ok! There are a few artifacts but it can be fixed easily. This still took too long IMO to make for what it is. Around 4 hour high poly, 2 hours for low/UV and another 2 hours disappeared with test baked (how??). So for next prop I'm going to try Ndo.
Day 4. So. On monday i need to draw 50 people poses 5min each, 10 ended photoshop paintings, self portrait, 2 projects of rotoscopy in AE, 2 animations-20 sec of robot and 15 of facial, and poses one. AAAAAAA!!!! Dunno when I`ll show next progress. Hate mondays.
Would be so awesome if natal will be hackable for the pc! Just imagine controlling your created rigged game characters live on screen, and he does directly what you doing in front of your pc! And if it also works with 2 persons you could create some cool fighting action between 2 of your characters! :D
(look below) Round 2? I'll be adding more detail to the mesh (and breaking up the bricks so it works on the platform) but yar, I tried to go for a more hard edge look, is it working better? edit: and this is (once again) a 2 second base texture... just messing around and see how the normals work so far.
