Sorry 'bout the lack of updates...I've been a little busy and haven't done too much to the set. I'm almost done with the mainhand weapon, all it needs is the rope and I can start retopo'ing.
Also, if this is going to be a first person perspective weapon, I would highly recommend adding some resolution to the knob just above the handle and, as that bit of particular detail is very near the player and is very visible.
ysalex : thanks :) hmm, polycount is damn high, but they are under 100k tris :poly142: i didnt optimize them that much.. textures are painted in mostly 4k and for the rendering it was downsized to 2k, weapons are originally 2k
29yrs old, been doing this for 9yrs, if you include military simulators and 3d slot machine games. Otherwise about 6yrs. Modding since early 1999 though (yay CounterStrike weapons! :P)
Everything looks good, though I'd tweak all of the materials on the weapons to make them read better. Right now, most of the guns look like they are made of plastic, rather than metal and wood.
@Texelion: yeah will do on the youtube stuff, it was just the fastest way i could upload them today. As for the focus I want to do props and charaters and i guess that also includes weapons. @Joe: On it!
I can think of plenty of games that had weapons, characters etc as cheats :p What happened there is that noone wanted to develop content that wasn't a part of the main game; it's a 'waste of money', after all.
Looks good dude! One tip is to research what the rooms are used for and what you can typically find in them. Like the narthex was a place where people left their weapons before entering and so on.
I'm pretty sure the SG552 model he has for sale is stolen as well. I'll look thru old counter-strike weapon model replacements and see if I can find the matching one.
