A great start I look forward to seeing this finished with the weapons and fur :) I can't tell what it is, maybe just the perspective of the screenshot, but I think the head might be a little too big.
Highlights and shadows like this often were achieved by using dodge and burn techniques in Photoshop. You can find more of these old tutorials on pinterest still. Just search for weapon texturing tutorials.
Thanks guys :) @Kraken Sure, I see what you mean especially the cloak hood part needs more attention. I started the weapon, which is a bit tricky. Updates soon :)
Claws certainly look more interesting that way, but they also look more like weapons than just a quirky/cute accessory. And as Nizza says, a low-slung backpack could be pretty cool.
Blocking volumes don't take damage as far as I know. And they're not usually setup to block weapon fire. Have you tried just detecting if the object that is getting shot takes damage?
Awesome stuff! I was wondering... What lighting/material setup do you have on the AR Pistol? Working on some weapon portfolio pieces and I just love that rendering style. :) Cheers!
First post, just some older assets used for a UDK Deathmatch mod 'The Hive' I worked on with ReneeMars among others last year. Keep in mind these are fairly outdated. Weapon Crate
Model the wood grain? What the heck? usually the wood on weapons are usually polished and varnish. Why would you need to model the wood grain? O_o or am I totally wrong here?
I really like the wooden gauntlet claws. Has a very natural feel to the whole piece, of the weapons the horn and wooden one appear to be the most interesting to me when matched with the other pieces.
Whoooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaa! running out of time but here is my texture progress. Still some things to do including weapons and his arm tassles. heres a shot of what he looks like in the rift
