Minor update, just been working on him a bit today. Im going to go for a diffuse-only woodland theme, materials in the wood, leather, fur area. Need some ideas for a weapon, i was thinking either a spear or some kind of scythe thing.
There's a lot of black rocks, do you want it to look like obsidian? It has a very specific normal map look it needs, and it needs a tight and bright specular, you could probably get away with a pure black diffuse if everything else looks right.
Started working on one of the monitors (The one around the middle at the top of the picture.) Same thing here, just a diffuse with no spec or gloss work. Next will prolly be some of the walls so that I can start getting the scene together! Hope you like it! Cheers!
Looking cool man, but I think the pattern on the body suit is too strong, maybe try really lowering the opacity of the pattern in the diffuse and increasing the contrast in the spec, could make for a cool result -just my 2c's, looking forward to seeing this one finished.
How did you do the textures? Are the diffuse textures as easy as a flat color with an AO bake on top? Using spec maps to make it look less bland? Also, I'm really looking forward to seeing those tutorials. I'm loving your work.
thanks! There isnt even a shader tree. The metal is just a diffuse, and a bump combined with some concavitystuff etc, same with leather :) The details is made in Abrush for some of it, some of it sculpted in modo, and some of it is even just sub-d (depends on how fast/important the part was)
Thx for the reply mate! I'm using 3dsmax, the shader is simple, just 2 maps, .png textures, one with alpha information and a default diffuse. The img on the right is a render of the opacity map, I was showing the back details that I didnt want to show in the render.
Sorry to be a total newb, but... If the screen colour depth for iPhone 3G is 16-bit, and alpha blending is free if I use PNG, does that mean that if I save my diffuse out as a 16-bit, I have to save my alpha separately as a PNG?
Hi Guys! I have been working on the upperbody. Otherwise the character is separated to 5x2048 texture sets:head, upperbody, lowerbody, belts, metal parts and I am using only diffuse and normal maps. Please let me know what you think! :)
Dicking around with some Final Fantasy XIV fan art. I really like the key art for the Arcanist so I'm going to try and get some diffuse painting done on her tomorrow if I have time. She's just shy of 5k.
