For the wings i'm planning to take references from anivia which is why its so spiky since the wings are ice crystals but in the statue it would just be rock as for the pose I'm looking at something along the lines of this: I agree that the angel statue flows a lot better so I'll have to try to make it work in the pose :)
Thanks for the help [HP]. That works, but the problem is that I'm trying to give the grass a really painterly feel (think like this), so I have several very subtle transitions in the grass blades which don't carry over to well when using alpha test. Is Cryengine just not the engine I want to use to achieve something like…
I don't play games where my character is either more physical fit then I am... or generally more attractive then I am... Ha ha, congrats everyone at cryptic, and especially the polycounters, the game looks crazy fun, and I'm going to have to give it a try in the following weeks. I hope it does well!
Hello everyone! I'm here to ask you some advice on the learning path I should follow. I'm a beginner in the 3D field, so I'm a little confused about two things. I've studied industrial design and computer engineering (I love interdisciplinary paths) and worked as graphic designer for 2 years, but in these last years I've…
Jump to the latest update here! Hey all. I'm on my last term at college and I wanted to try and get one more character done before then. I'm trying to create Jaime Lannister in a bit of a borderlands/ the walking dead type style.\ Right now I'm trying get it to look more like Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. Any suggestions would be…
So I'm trying to set up a render and when I try to link up a surface shader to an amb_occlusion map the amb_occlusion has a little red bar over it's name. I'm thinking that means something is wrong. I have evidence to this because when I try to render nothing comes out, just blackness. Can someone help me with this please?
considering the very few texture colors you use you could make a better use of the uv space by stacking shells that are on opposed sides as you'll never see them at the same time. Also I don't know if it's a result of your unique unwrap or just blurry texturing but the texture is too blurry for the surface you're trying to…
Not sure what CryEngine's shader system looks like, but perhaps you could try a parallax mapped/relief mapped, texture version combined with some form of subsurface scattering or a different lighting model to get that softer light feel of the transmission and reflection from all the layers of moss. Otherwise yes you could…
The real time reflections are screen-space so you'll only see what's on screen, never the backside of an object. You can try and work with environment probes and checking BoxProject as well as adding screen space reflections. http://freesdk.crydev.net/display/SDKDOC2/Environment+Probes ( Box Projection environment probe…
Hello! I'm a recent college grad trying to break into the gaming industry. I'd really love for some feedback on my work, as well as any advice for the industry. The short: I'm trying to gauge if I have the chops for the industry right now or if I need more work before I should even bother applying. Is there a place for…
