Unless there is a very specific requirement for portability, i'd never suggest a laptop really. especially not a 600 quid (1000 usd) laptop. Generally huge graphs just take alot of calculating power. Although SD calculates everything and then holds that informaiton in cache. When a change in the graph occurs only those nodes affected by the change are recalculated. So check your system stats again right after you changed something. Its just the nature of… -

Speed of ram, and then quantity is very important if you're running out of ram and resorting to virtual memory, that will cause a big hit.
