If like you mentioned you don't have this issue at work, but just for your private projects then maybe you need to remind yourself why you are doing a specific piece. - Is it for fun? Well, then you don't need to see it through. Drop it when it isn't fun anymore. - Is it to learn something? Then you better learn the thing…
Video game art creation is a lot 80/20. In this context it's the last 20% ends up taking the most time but also increases the results substantially. As far as losing motivation for school projects. Yeah that's school. It can be a grind at times. Do the work and then go onto a personal project that has you excited. It's…
I havent seen that many art tests. Out of around 110 game companies in the UK, I've seen around 3 of them giving a public art test and none of them asking for a private art test. How big are we talking here? The "biggest" one I've seen are the environment ones from Bizarre, which consist of 2-3 pretty big facades and…
Delivered the Naughty Nightware, hahaha. Found where Vault 112 is located completely by accident, not going in just yet. Oh yah, found the Ruined Bestheda facility; it's practically a shopping mart for custom weapon goodies. Oh... and, really... why did this take so long to show up?…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=2iB_Av5PBhI#t=102s First, I am somewhat new to texturing, and I have been learning from tutorials about the processes and such on how to make my objects have materials. But I came across this video where a young man demonstrates how to get very rich textures just by…
I moved from a hyper capitalist society to a social democracy and kept my eyes opened and saw how much better collectivism works than individualism, and have done some historical deep dives to rectify the extremely censored education we get in the USA school system. What can I say? I recommend the book "Poor People's…
Jayantbhatt007: Here is a link to my completed version of the well using the image above as reference. Total time start to finish (Maya modeling, UV layout (one 1024 map that can be scaled to 512), Substance Painter texturing, and Marmoset set up and Render) was six (6) hours including a few breaks, so likely 5.5 hours…
Thanks for the answer, and a nice read that! Gotta respect Garriot for wanting to keep that in :) As for the Patch: I too was saddened to see it render Large Adress Aware useless, my game now runs worse and crashes constantly. When I used the LAA Patch on the Exe, I could play for hours without it crashing even once, and…
It doesn't crash for me, but there is about a 4 second system freeze when I run the script. Adding the 3rd line isn't causing the slow down. I can add 10 lines quickly, it's right after it draws the scrollbar that the freeze happens. I'm not sure this is the right place to use multithreading. Even the regular 3ds Max UI is…
Yesterday I started to make a new prop for some school project and got some issues when I tried to bake the Normal Map from Zbrush. This is the object I'm trying to create (with a Concept Sketch here): This is the 'complete' model. This is the part I made for the UV so I could just copy the other half and one of the 'legs'…
