if you post all the maps and the UV's we could give you some pointers on squeezing out more detail with less, just to assist you in creation of the short, don't wanna get system bog while animating.
This could turn out to be very interesting and helpful when a few more people have joined up and commented - I see that this link must have done the rounds at a few UK studios internal mail systems already!
Coincidently...i just reinstalled Quake3 on my new system. It's still a beautiful and amazing game. And I'm seeing 90 fps and r_dynamicLights 1 for the first time. I can't wait to start making models for Quake 3.
metal gear (and possibly part2 as well). just because i can't get enough of it gameplay-wise and it would be nice to actually have access to the whole story, not missing out on important parts of the story on more recent systems.
[ QUOTE ] ID: monsterBlues Steam Servers are down currently. Can't friend anybody up just yet. [/ QUOTE ] HAHAHA! Why am I not surprised. Took them forever to get the Friends system to even work. -caseyjones
i believe that they used like 5 normal maps and for example when they bend the arms they use one , when they are still they use another, i believe its that way . i actual never thought anyonewould implement that system !
I was thinking about a behavior that would ripple the image like a holographic display when you passed your hand over the anchor or somehow cause the system to lose traking... that'd be some pretty cool stuff :P
Thanks a lot for the link and all the info in this thread. I feel strange though, always there's so much to learn... BTW I downloaded the videos with Download Helper and it saved them as .mp4 files. They play alright on my system.
Well there is also the exo-skelleton approach: http://www.metamotion.com/gypsy/gypsy-motion-capture-system-mocap.htm Not sure how expensive it is, and the stuff above sure sounds even better. But is is a working solution, that doesn't need special facilities.
to say nothing of harnessing an existing engine/networking system.. but then of course if you make it a mod out of an existing engine, you're looking at a bigger memory footprint and whatnot which kinda kills a lot of the casual functionality of an irc client.
