Hi guys I started trying my luck with UVW Unwrap and I have these green lines over some of the edges of the head. It makes it impossible to tell whether the edges are being selected or not. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Actually, smoothing groups don't exist outside of max, (it's a wonky and bad concept) But blender has hard edges, which can be used by applying the edgesplit modifier, selecting a few edges, hitting ctrl-e and choose mark sharp.
NINETITLE, Hi) Looks cool)) I think if you add a highlight on the each tile edge and a little to the crack's edges, it'll add some depth to your texture. And it seems a bit too much cloudy, try to decrease this effect ;)
Is pixar subd / edge weighting something to consider? or is it actually better to do it with manual edge loops? I was wondering about it some time ago... I have done it the manual way in the past simply for practice, but it sounds pretty awesome
This is Maya, but probably translate-able to Max: Create a sphere with a # of subdivision axii(spelling?), the edges that radiate from one pole to another, divisible by 4 (ie. 8, 12, 16, 20, etc), then delete every other edge at the poles...
That's a lot better, for sure. The elbow is still too low, though, and that's a REALLY sharp edge you have on the inside of the arm at the elbow. You should really round that out... sharp edges like that are not natural in organic shapes. Keep it up.
the cobbles should go perpendicular to the road, not straight along its edge. that's the first thing i noticed when i saw the images posted above. you also need to raise the centre of the road so the water drains to the edges.
everybody make paint over now! ok no, just to conserve the artist's work.. ..simply adjust the head smaller horizontally and make room for the ears. the edges of ears of the previous version still serve as the edges of this head, just the face shrunk.
Looking at the reference I think that the light is dimmer, like a slit that gradually opens. At dawn you do have this very pinkish and horizontal light, it feels like a slit on the horizon but its dispersion is much higher than what is seen on your image. I think you would gain also to add fog on your mountains to make…
Echo what rollin said but just wanted to add my .02cents - on say how i enter challenges so they are not a total loss. (i.e. what do i want to learn.) For the wild west challenge i wanted to attempt a fully quaded design with good edge flow - i wanted perfect edge flow but time was against me. Below i state what i did to…
