I'm all about feedback relating to the quality of the artwork. The content of a piece is so subjective, any negative input from someone that disapproves is pretty easy to ignore. -

I too your render into photoshop and dropped an "exposure" adjustment layer over it, adjusted the gamma there to 2.2 and got this. My personal conclusion is that it's gotta be related to the gamma. -
