Half and half. I painted it pretty simply but also had to add fake SSS/reflections to make it stand out a little more. -

This might not be exactly what you're looking for, but in terms of having local backups I like to use Bvckup2 (https://bvckup2.com/). It's perpetual software, data is saved to your chosen destination (I use a separate portable & encrypted SSD to backup all my personal files, but local network servers might work too),… -

There is actually something odd going on, current Im using SSS to simulate the glow of the candle, but its only working from certain directions. -

just a quickie, less than an hour. might try and polish it up and either polypaint or retopo EDIT: new renders with sss goodness
