work on the initial blockout for the terraforming mech has begun! Modelling all panels separately so they can be hit off in game to expose the mech's insides! Credits: Gemma Atkinson
Hey everyone, After watching the awesome video blog by Tim Simpson, I wanted to start applying the advice he gave. This includes documenting my workflow. I was quite resistant to this idea at first, being quite protective of my work until it’s finished. So this is quite scary, but good scary. Hopefully myself and others…
Hi all, Ok so i think certainly for now i'm calling the start pier blockout model done. I'm a lot happier with this iteration, feels like it has more character to it. Not sure which asset i'm tackling next for blockout, its either the salty hippo pirate ship or the lighthouse that sits atop of the cove. Both hold a ton of…
Aaaaand, this is why I love working with Tim :) Overpainting the 3D Blockout After he sent me the 3D art he did, I tried to nail down the design, using his blockout as a ref. Working like this allow me to check if the character will make sense once it is translated to 3D, so it's super helpful to work in 2D and 3D…
Woah, this looks cool. I'm loving the highpoly and blockout. The only things i'd say are for the blockout, the area where the human and animal half meet does look kinda weird and that you might want to define the deltoids on the animal half a bit more. Also whats your process by the way. Are you only using zbrush, using…
Thank you. I agree, the blockout definitely isn't the best when it comes to actual placement and camera angles. I mainly just wanted to get things in a scene with a basic ToD to get it started. I do plan on adding more trees and doing an actual mountain mesh, instead of scaling up a rock like I did for the blockout…
Ok, the past week has been very busy, no time to do anything at all, and today I'm finally able to sit down and start working on rough blockout. The bull's head will be made of wood with some metal parts (if it is big) or metal (if I pick a small one). Also I'll probably make a unicorn head just to see how it looks. Very…
solid looking blockout Hamish, I think that the pillars could do with a little hacking back on the tri count, but this is blockout so I guess that you already know that. Ace concepts that you have chosen btw, if you can nail the atmosphere then this will look stunning. I'm afraid I cant help with the window thing,…
So I’m going to be using this thread to
post the progression of a diorama I’m currently working on. Il start by uploading what i have so far. This was my sketch after creating moodboards I then moved onto creating a blockout in maya. After I revisited the blockout and began re
arraigning the composition and creating props…
I've always finished sculpting the blockout in Zbrush, and then used zremesher to evenly quadrangulate my sculpt for proper subdividing and detailing. Zremesher has that effect though, where it kind of melts your sculpt and you lose some form, which I guess you can get back by storing a morph target of your dynamesh…
