I never get bored with something i'm working on, i just hit a point where i'm not skilled enough to finish it. That's when i realize that i need to practice more or start using the right reference.
This is some nice work. Just a note on the scope, when you hold a bow you hold it at arms length. At that distance magnification scopes don't work. Looks cool, but not practical. The red dot would though. :D

Yea. I wanted some hard surface practice a few months ago so I just picked one of the challenges and posted it up in the thread. You have the benefit of seeing everyone elses work as well!

I agree. There's a moment in the Practical Light and Colour DVD when the author comments on a backlit picture, stating that you can see the warmth of the sun, the falloff of the bounced light and the coldness of the shadow that comes from the blue skylight:
I personally believe that bad game texturing is a direct result of Bad Art Direction. Mirrors Edge, and TF2 (as previous examples) have little to do with texturing practices, as much as it has to do with stellar art direction.
