Still working on composition for background and external elements as well as the chain to see if I can put more feeling into the entire piece taking my time to work out and render out the rest of the materials, but so far my entire progress for the piece. Gonna have to power through for the next few days, more updates to…
Just a quick update here. I've gone in and layed out some proxy objects to define the scale of the main props, like the tables, power generator etc. I think I'm at a far enough point now where I can start to move forward with this, and actually get some texturing and highpoly props going. Cheers!
I believe it's much better performance-wise to have traditional model with LODs than to rely on OpenSubdiv tesselation. You can make a very detailed retopology and it will still have much less triangles than smoothed OpenSubdiv. I can think of a few cases where it can be useful but generally It's a waste of GPU power.
vray is very good with presets but you'll learn a lot more with mental ray and imo its a much more powerful rendered. as for the wine glass most of what you see with glass is reflection and refraction so rending it in a white box is asking for trouble. try creating a very simple environment to render in and see how you fare
That's looking pretty great Ruz - are you using the suspenders as a way to pin the cloth to the mesh ? And even if not ... it still looks like a pretty smart approach ! I need to dust off whichever version I bought back then ... I've only used it a few times for very simple things, but that was enough to convince me that…
I've had good success with the GoZ plugin. Tricky to set up, but once it's working it's pretty powerful. I've managed to append entire bodies to head sculpts without much trouble. Drop down to lowest subD, GoZ to your 3D app, add the loops or geometry you want, GoZ to ZBrush et voil
It is a lot deeper than that ;) . You combine powers/nodes in various ways to get different effects, then you get better and learn to set up attacks, use pulls/pushes to set up chains and multiply damage/effects (combos). I think there is a demo for PSN/360. PC version with a 360 controller is the best option...
Awesome work! I think you are losing a bit of the power the blade in the concept gives off with the teeth as yours are thinner and seem to be more uniform between in and out. Might be worth extending the blade slightly and extending the teeth width a little bit down the blade to get that back! Really cool stuff, love the…
small update this morning: I wanted to capture the deep oranges and reds seen mostly in sedimentary rock formations and desert rocks. I love the chaulky surfaces with the white scratched highlights. I used a few smart masks and created two layers for emissive maps (etchings are more powerful + cracks are more subtle)…
