      I think my main comment would be that it looks really similar to Doom's default weapon, maybe work on making the blade's design a little more unique?

      Well while we're talking realism, any conventional firearm should work perfectly fine in a vacuum. The biggest issue would probably be regulating the temperature of the weapon.

      ..but it sounds difficult to reduce poly's to 1/5 of the original, if I were you I would consider remodelling the weapon using the hi poly model as reference.

      Only question I have for this store idea is, how are they going to hand weapons en masse? Seems like this would only work for visual upgrades and not powers.

      Go study speculars man :) . it will help. Also know where your ground plane is and focus more on keeping correct forms. Cool paintover and weapons though :) .
