Those images are HUGE. It would help if you downsized them a good bit. Or at the very least posted a warning in the thread title. But honestly, the images don't even need to be that large.
Another study based on reference image. Once again, working with color. Image is (in my opinion) a fairly accurate representation of the source material. Not 100% satisfied with the feet, but oh well.

Nice looking dude, but I would turn down that chromatic abberation effect in the last shot a bit, when viewing the image fullsize it gets kind of hard to focus on the image.
Hi - Do the final 3 images have to be from engine renders? I have no knowledge of engines but was hoping to render out and composite images from Maya & Z brush..?
Could just be clueless HR talk saying "reference" images as a reference to your portfolio? Therefore meaning just portfolio images? Probably best to just ask what they mean.
Edited back the skybox to a cleaner state, I removed the flat cumulus that destroyed the light quality and image quality and touched up some things Image - compressed for Polycount (255KB)
