Ok I got the file, but I'm getting a version error when I try and open this: Strange, I usually see this when I try and open a file from a version of UDK newer than mine. But I am running November 2012, which I thought was the latest. Any ideas on this? -

yes is what Cyrid said , but how can I undeerstand how it works the cavity provile? doing by trial and error takes too much time and I woudl like ot see a reference to understand how t make the profile shape .... as for tha automask I coudln't find in the masking options .... -

joshschmitt : Yes , I have done all that, from the highlights and tone in the postproccess volume to the specs and diffuse in the material , it may be some import error or it could be the shadow res, in any case I manage to brighten up a bit. Also the grass still has some issues , Im gonna redo the planes. -

Blockout I feel I got the scale perfect in game, except that door, the concept has a few wierd things about it. This concept has some weird errors. Like where the stairs meet the roof. I tried to plan this out. Also I hope you like my abstract art. -

Hey, thank for the tut! i bought it earlier today to have a crack at it! every thing so far is workin appart from the roughness of the WetMap, when I add the lerp to the liquid lerp and then to the roughenss i get an error. I dont understand why becasue it worked for the Hue of the wetmap jsut not the roughenss. -

Right right, if you don't offset your uvs you'll get a speed hit plus potentially errors from raytracing the same uvs twice(or more). This should apply to any app. If your entire mesh was mirrored but the mirrored uvs weren't offset your bake would take 2x as long. -

hmm, perhaps I was wrong about the unwrapping. The texturing on the first post looked strange (like the grey metal on the back side stopped half way up) so I thought there was some unwrapping error. Seeing it textured more, looks like you know what your doing. My bad. -

thanx, Gmanx, that was to be my next approach, but I was wondering if the image plane glitch was common. I'm running a GF4 Ti4800 128Mb, so I don't think it's a vidcard weakness. No error data reported, just "Maya has encountered a problem" (duh!) so I can't even try to track the cause. -
Re: big .obj files into 3dsmax
Is there a way to allocate more memory resources for zbrush to use? I have a 3 million polygon model and when I try and export it as an obj I get insufficent memory errors towards the end. Or do I need a new system. I have 2 gigs of ram on my current system. -
