I'm on the team. It's a mod. To elaborate a bit more, look at the site. Right next to CANVAS it says "A Source Engine Modification". Look at the About page also. "CANVAS is a total-conversion modification for Half-Life 2: Episode 2."
I think they work seamlessly, for most features, but you should pick up crysis 2 on principle. It's a good ass game. I don't usually replay games, but I replayed crysis 2 about 4 times.
Okay, just about ready to upload, got 6 different beauty shots with 2 different lighting patterns, still arguing with myself over which set of pics to upload for the final submission Set 1 Set 2
Are your textures have power of 2 resolution? Seems like you have no mipmaps. this can happen if you intentionally disable them, or when you have non power of 2 texture resolution - they won't have mipmaps then.
A better comparison would be The BMW M3 VS the New mustang GT 5.0.. Same power, same 1/4 mile times.. very similar 'specs' but 2 very different prices and 2 very different groups.
Finally these 2 following resources are a must-have in my opinion for a 3d environment artist: http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/store/product/185/Practical-Light-and-Color#.VVju0kaOu9E http://www.hourences.com/product/the-hows-and-whys-of-level-design-2/
Toolbag 2 is a complete re-write, so custom post effects and sky light presets will not work in 2. Meshes and materials will work in TB2 though. The good news is importing sky panoramic content is way easier now.
You get free updates between versions like 2.06>2.07>2.08 but for a future Toolbag 3 say, you'd probably have to buy it outright or upgrade from 2 at a discount (based on what they did for 1 to 2).
An update in this project thread, yes, we are up and rocking it! And looking right now for one or 2 more professional concept artists and up to 2 modelers. Some samples of our progress is a metallic material test: And a 3d model:
i have 2 suggestions: 1. smooth your model in blender. 2. sculpt your model, bake some maps and make the texture properly instead of copying the picture from the original concept and putting it as the texture. :D
