Its Really Simple 1.) I start with box with 10 subdivisions on each side..like so 2.) then i add a turbosmooth modifier on top, set to about 5 levels, then a spherify on top of that, and then a stretch modifier, you'll get something like this 3.) next I add a displace modifier with about 20 strength using a cells map (…
Once you add a cloth simulation, a modifier will appear at the top of the modifier stack. Once the cloth simulation is finished, just hit apply in object mode and it will convert your simulation into a mesh which is editable. The cloth modifier is linked to the cloth simulation and it's only purpose is to convert the…
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I want to attempt to do the hair with the Max hair and fur modifier. But if that fails then I will be going down the geometry route. @bb0x Those are great modifications to his face. I will change it for sure! Thanks.
Yea I agree sometimes you need to flip your mesh and symmetry won't work but in that case, you should use the mirror modifier instead of the mirror tool. There really isn't a need to use the mirror tool and its horrible inverse scaling. To see the problem of the mirror tool, run it on any mesh, reset xform (the utility)…
Maya has a history stack that can't be reordered. You are pretty much forced to work very linearly. Going back down the stack and making changes can be a dicey operation with horrific consequences farther up the stack. I think most people collapse the history and just muscle through with poly wrangling when they could be…
Try applying a normal modifier, then another normal modifier (not sure which version of max you're using but in 2014 i have this fucked up issue where if i uncheck "flip normals" in the normal modifier, the modifier doesn't actually reset the normals, so i have to apply two modifiers so it flips the normals twice... it's…
Hey guys, iam actually testing the quad chamfer modifier. but i got several problems with it. sometimes it works good for me but often not. on the following pictures you see where are my problems. i want to understand whats goind wrong and how to get a clean and good looking result. i really hope you can help me on this:…
It's called "Shell"-modifer I think :) I usually create clothing and armor using it. Just extruding "poly-edges" over the whole character and then use the shell modifier. EDIT: I really should've read your post more carefully. Oh well. :poly136:
well, i would have said the same, see if everything is welded or see if there is anything welded which you didnt want to be welded if everything fails, remake it and see if it gets better. or you put another edit poly on top of the stack and just edit the verts that stick out... edit (over 10 years later, as I find this…
Can i take a bit more of your time, Klunk? As i said i am not very experienced and while i can probably find a shaders and maps you mentioned i more interested in certain values you have used (as well as light sources and environment settings if any). Please post some screenshots with these if possible. And by hand…
