Re: How to reverse normal direction in zbrush?
If it's just a plane that you've used in something like 3ds max, then you could go back into it, select the polygon and hit "Flip" which would then show the correct side. It's because the plane is one-sided, there's likely a way to show both sides in ZBrush but I don't think I've had to use it before. -

ahh hey elder thanks for the comments also N-gons is that polygons? sorry never heard that term before i learn from one source being my friend whos imo a VERY good modeller for his age and hes never reffered to it he will probably know the meaning though XD -

Nice artwork. The gun concepts don't seem too original, they're recognisable enough, but not really cool or anything, just kinda basic. The human model's polygons are a bit too linear for my tastes (on the upper legs and arms especially), but it's generally well built. Did you do all of this artwork personally? -

Is there a way to allocate more memory resources for zbrush to use? I have a 3 million polygon model and when I try and export it as an obj I get insufficent memory errors towards the end. Or do I need a new system. I have 2 gigs of ram on my current system. -

Thanks for the links! Hmmm... I was really leaning towards UT3, but I've also always wanted to do something in Sandbox, but I'd forgotten all about it. Now I'm on the fence again. :D I may play around with some old low polygon models in Sandbox and see how I like it. -

I think what you're looking for is called Relax and can be found in the UV editor under Polygons. There are pinning options and you can set the number of relax iterations, etc. I'm not sure what else Maya has these days. I mainly use Headus UV Layout, which is amazing but not cheap. -

It worked, thanks! :D Wow, totally different to what I had. The chamfer edge tool in the editable polygon menu doesn't yield the same results though, would I do this with slices or cuts then? Okay, figured it out - use the connect tool, and not the chamfer tool? I made a cube resembling yours. -

hey thanks for the tip on modeling screws chai, one question though: How do you keep the pieces from intersecting the base gun? you've got that part of the screw piece that dips in past where it seems like the polygon for the base gun is... so how do you keep it from intersecting? -

What program? If in maya you could make a Nurbs sphere the same size as your polygon sphere, project curves onto the nurbs sphere, seperate the curves from the Nurbs surface, then use the now spherical curves to model. I can't try this out ATM, so it may not be a perfect solution in maya. -

I might give it a try if all else fails. I'm trying what I said earlier, got that decimated mesh, extracted the important polygons and am in the process of filling the gaps. If it sucks I'll probably try doing it from scratch, but I hope I don't have to do it again. :T
