In customize user interface you will find "Toggle Modeling Ribbon Orientation". Bind that to a hotkey or toolbar. Kind of silly, should really be docked to the left to begin with.
I thought microsoft's new ribbon stuff was meant to replace the toolbar and menu not be thrown down below it. Also, why is OBJ importing a "new feature" ?

you're currently set to Local transform. Up at the top toolbar just underneath preferences/help you'll see something that should say local. change it to world.

In the newer versions of UE4 there's a lesser version of that tool in the viewport toolbar. It will align meshes to surfaces as long as the mesh is authored flat on the ground. It's near the snapping drop downs...
You can user the resource updater plugin (should be in your left toolbar by default). This will allow you to easily update any outdated resource, including mesh maps.
Extrude with a height of 0, then move the faces in the axis you want. You can move in exact unit increments by right clicking on the move tool button in the top toolbar.
