Yeah seriously awesome rendering of this, when you were saying it was a sculpt I was thinking perhaps made of sculpy, looks very realistic in some of the shots. He doesn't really look like a frog to me in the face, closer to a chameleon - but it's still a pretty cool character! :D Well done
Thanks for your comment, I know that it isn't perfect but I'm still learning a lot about how ZBrush works. I really don't know how to sculpt realistic frown eyes. So know he looks asian, ah ah. I'll do better next time !
Yea I mean if you just want to get the effect working really quick, just a base color of blueish white and a normal map of some clouds could do the trick. It depends on how realistic you want it to look. There are dozens of snow materials and tutorials on how to do it yourself.
Screenshot Saturday: A little work in progress render from my Pirate Cabin Scene. I'm currently working on the textures and lighting. Trying to replicate realistic textures from Substance Painter is harder than I thought. I am thinking of adding some god rays with post effects.
Just add some colour then... at the moment they're just... grey... paint some of the flesh tone into the eye white, just a little, maybe shifted a little toward the red end of the spectrum. That might look a little more realistic. And a 1-pixel pure white highlight somewhere is always fun
i tried to do more with the texture but it began to look more realistic than i wanted. i was trying to make it look close to what it looks like in the anime. thanx for the comments, i'd be willing to make it ans SDK if anyone wants to rig it...and show me how to make it an SDK.
You can definitely do something very stylistic with nothing but tris & texture. If you want a good looking, realistic tree, you can certainly do that too, but it takes far too many tris to do it right. You basically get out of the realm of real time at that point.
i can't find any of the original comics anywhere but i'd really like to read them. but i can tell you this: this party wagon is a lot more serious than the one in the cartoon and yes i'm going to get the turtle looking more realistic. he's got no texture yet.
Thanks, No it isnt for a game. it is just for fun and for practice so i can make more realistic models and scenes. I hope i can aimprove alot. I know its like mega poly but since it's just for fun, i dont plan on removing all the unnesary polys.
how about posting an image with the normalmap and texture applied to the lowpoly mesh? It would help a lot. Also, if you could tell us what you're going for. Realistic, stylised, etc.. is it meant to look so multi-coloured? As it stands, I take it you're going for lightly decomposing/bruised?
