i believe scaling in photoshop isn't done in linear space so you actually lose color every time you rescale something. but practically this shouldn't be noticable enough to worry about.

No offense, but those image don't make you come off as someone who's "awesome at sculpting and texturing". I'd say keep on trucking and practicing, and try to learn some of those terms yourself.
Seams on organic meshes are going to have uneven checkers, and that's ok. We have some info on this page about best practices when using checker maps. http://wiki.polycount.com/wiki/Texture_Coordinates
It's pretty common practice to just password protect NDA art and only show it to people you apply to. There is some risk involved but it's pretty ludicrous to not be able to show any of your work ever.
real time 2d animation isn't practical since it's very hard on the animators wrist ;) but have you seen dragons lair? it's an old game that was fully animated by some ex-disney animators.
