Both of these are bad! Terrible artifacts on every hard edge because the uvs arent split at hard edges. -

You might have more success creating an edge loops at that section, bevel in and then add a supporting edge. -

Here's kind of a goofy workaround... turn on symmetry, and only paint across the edges. Mirrors the edge though. -

If you have hard edges, you need a UV split along those hard edges. -

The seams are not visible on the vertical edges because the texture (and the UVs) is tiling, but there is actually a seams on the top edges ;) -

Looks good so far :) But the "used look" edges on the Edge of the Sword could be more randomized. -

A important part of texturing is defining edges, right now non of your edges seem defined. -

Do you mean chamfer the edges on the low poly, or make the edges on the high poly softer? -

If you make rounded edges larger with some extra edge loops, i think it will be fine.
