Does setting the reference coodinate system to World help? It's in the toolbar on top of your screen. -

Can you transform the pivot with that toolbar? I've only ever used it to bring an object to the ws center. -

"UVW Xform" modifier or inside the unwrap editor "mirror selected subobject" on the top toolbar. -

See if you can turn off your Bookmarks toolbar with the View menu, then turn it back on.
