I think it's a two tier system Ged. You pay for extras, but there is free play too. Haven't really looked into it though, so I can't give the detail. -

I use Blender, any keybord without separate numpad would be useless for me as a "work" system. But the Lappy 386 is nice for ripping C64 floppies to PC stiffies. -

I had to disable the HDR effects to get vanila-HL2 performance. I was able to keep bloom at least. I'll build a new system after Vista launches.. -
