You can give a look at this movie, it will explain how to extrude an object along a curve. This is very for use and you can extrude all shape you would like! About 4 clicks for the manipulation :) [ame] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LsVPuOUmuQw&fmt=18[/ame]
Been a while since I last used the learning edition but I think I remember enough to be of use. - Alt + Middle Click will select edge loops/rings. - Selecting the extrude command from the menu will give you an explorer window that allows you to define extrude distance.
So is zbrush. They don't give you new extruding and slicing tools if they're not designed to extrude and slice :P Either try freezing them, or manually clone your subtool, make the edits there, and project the details back.
The closer the edgeloops, the tighter the edge. The problems occur when the edges that aren't on the extrude, but on the flat surface, are close together and cause pinching like on your screenshot. You can space the edges on the flat area out more to get rid of the pinching, but have the edges merge closer near the start…
really? x - scale c - rotate v - translate ctrl-d to extrude a selected face or right click and select extrude. XSI I found has the best interface out of xsi, maya, max, blender. hell you can even set it up so the shortcuts are similar to max or maya.
That's for the reply Sgt. Thinking about it now, you're right, this is a pretty simple scene. I will defiantly do my best to recreate it. The extruded edges were separated geo. Might be the render, but the side, is just that extruded edge. Thanks for the reply :)
Hey all, No doubt you've been seeing some building models from Melbourne CBD this week, I have the audacious task of Modeling the Flinders Street Station (from the Elizabeth Street view) In the future I would like to model the entire building but for now it's just a section. Basically I started with the reference image and…
I'm not sure if you're using hotkeys, but sometimes a broken key might mess you up as well. I have ctrl+d set as duplicate and d set as extrude, so sometimes trying to duplicate my model with dodgy ctrl key, I'll extrude my whole model without an offset instead.
Yeah as gwot said there are no edge tools, if you want edge extrude there is a workaround tho, make a 2-point-poly, and extrude that... But then you have to merge points, and unify polygons because it will make them double sided.... Really lame shit.
